Design Challenge
The hardest part of this project is finding a way to let the coaster stay still while moving the package. After different testing, we use the paper of the box to make a foothold for the coaster.
Project Duration
The project started in November 2018 in Taiwan and finished in October 2019 in Taiwan, and was lunch at Feds Xinyi A13 AUNT STELLA in Taiwan in December 2019.
Operation Flow
Open the Box and you will see 4 paper coasters with different Taiwanese tile patterns design which emphasize the flavor of cookies inside the box. And could enjoy the cookie with a cup of tea putting on the top of the paper coaster.
Research
In the beginning, I search the element that represents Taiwan, and I found out Taiwanese Tile is starting to shine in different ways. So, I went to the Chiayi Museum of Old Taiwan Tiles to do some research about the layout and design of it. On the other hand, Contact with the Print Factory to discuss the package, we try lots of mockups, to present the user experience of opening this package. Finally, come up with this idea, cutting four plum blossom shape window to seeing a little part on the outside box, and when open can foud out four coasters and the cookie inside.
Inspiration
Tourists often buy souvenirs when they are traveling, things that are for using or for eating are the main choice. Therefore, having these two combining together might be a perfect souvenir for tourists. The package is for Taiwanese flavor cookie, using Taiwanese national flower plum blossom window cut as the cover, that lets tourists bring memories and Taiwanese culture home to share with families and friends. There are also 4 paper coasters with different Taiwanese tile patterns composed of signature cookie ingredients to emphasize the flavor of cookies inside the box.
