"Texts From Graphics" is a collection of essays written by graphic design professors, in which they express their concerns and ideas about design. The concept of this publication summarizes the creative processes that are used in the field to solve communication problems. Based on these processes, an iconographic system was developed in order to simplify complex ideas. The icons, along with hierarchy, typography and composition, highlight the main messages and create an aesthetic that communicates all of the book's information in a simple and interesting way.

Unique Properties
Texts From Graphics is a collection of essays written by academic authors of the graphic design program at UDEM, expressing their concerns around ideas held about design. The concept summarizes the creative processes used to solve communication problems by developing an iconographic system that simplifies complex ideas, changing the set between each chapter. The main ideas are highlighted through hierarchies, typographical selections and compositions; creating a dynamic and light reading.

Production Technology
The design was made in black and white, digital printed on 90 grams bond paper for a low production cost. It was used a section sewn binding method in hard paste to ensure the durability of the book and UV varnish was applied on the cover.
Design Challenge
The main obstacle of this project was the low budget available for the realization of the book. As it is a book made to praise the graphic design of the university high quality and formality was expected, using economical methods and materials.
Project Duration
The project was realized in 2017 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, and was presented in the Vicerrectoria, de Arte, Arquitectura y Diseno (V I A A D) of the University of Monterrey.
Operation Flow
The typographic system created for the publication allows a better understanding of the essays. It is used as an introduction in the section covers to prepare the reader for the complex concepts expressed in the text; and along the pages as visual relief and support.
Research
The creative processes and the design methodologies used in design were deeply analyzed in order to have a better insight of the topics dealt with in the essays, and to be able express effectively the conceps with the iconographic system.
Inspiration
The book originates from the need of the University of Monterrey to represent the graphic design program. The objective is to show the ideas of the professors of the university and the growth that the career has had through their professional perspective.
