The All Mies box translates the simplicity of the watch design into a minimal and yet bold packaging. Embracing the same style found on the timepieces, the packaging is carefully designed to create an artful experience from beginning to end. The concept relies on a series of different layers that are tightly fit together as pieces of a puzzle waiting to slowly unveil the final product inside. The final design expands upon the architectural identity of the brand by creating a play between volumes and voids and lets form follow function.

Unique Properties
The All Mies box translates the simplicity of the watch design into a minimal and yet bold packaging. Embracing the same style found on the timepieces, the packaging is carefully designed to create an artful experience from beginning to end. The concept relies on a series of different layers that are tightly fit together as pieces of a puzzle waiting to slowly unveil the final product inside.

Production Technology
The final design uses a series of cardstock layers that feature a timepiece cutout in the center where the main product is supposed to sit. These layers are bundled together by a thin rubber band that rests on small notches. The main core is then enclosed by a final cover that engraves the brand identity of the product and company.
Design Challenge
As the concept of a small startup, the biggest challenge was to achieve a unique design packaging that was elegant and simple at an affordable price. By rejecting generic boxes we had to carefully study production processes and materials that would allow us to achieve a custom design with financial constraints.

October 2018 to January 2019. Los Angeles/CA, USA
Operation Flow
When completely enclosed, the packaging can be opened by either sliding the core out of the cover or opening the cover from the back tab. Once the cover is removed, the main core is untied by removing the rubber band. Once the rubber band is removed, the main core becomes a series of independent layers that reveals that watch at its center.
Research
The All Mies brand was established following the Miesian style. Every product and packaging are created to be simple and bold by embracing clean lines and a minimalist approach. All designs are generated through the understanding of its function. Tying the functionality of a piece to the establishment of its design enables the whole concept to achieve a holistic approach.
Inspiration
The packaging is inspired on the art of model making: topographic models can be created to illustrate mass and shape through the use of a sequence of layers. The final design expands upon the architectural identity of the brand by creating a play between volumes and voids and lets form follow function.
