Production Technology
The frosted bottle features a gradient of yellow and green hues, complemented by a green transparent centre ring structure. The frosted material imparts a delicate touch and presents a soft visual effect when exposed to light. The combination of colours and textures results in a visually harmonious effect that corresponds with the efficacy of the product.
Design Challenge
The design team faced the challenge of incorporating the spiral form of Dendrobium into the product. To accomplish this, the team employed a simple design language, creating irregular and smooth chine lines in the centre ring structure. The artistic interpretation of plant growth showcases the coiled upward posture along the support of Dendrobium, highlighting its vitality. Additionally, the design retains the spiral momentum of the molecular chain while injecting a sense of technology.
Project Duration
The project was initiated in November 2022 and completed in January 2024 in Hangzhou over a period of one year and two months.
Operation Flow
The centre ring has a concave and undulating shape that offers a comfortable grip. Additionally, the design increases friction, preventing accidental dropping when used with wet hands. The design also makes it easier for users to unscrew the cap. The vacuum pump structure has the ability to isolate air effectively, ensuring the safety of the essence and preserving the activity of the internal ingredients. It also facilitates precise control of dosage, reduces waste of internal materials.
Research
In the current era, many skincare brands prioritise demonstrating natural and scientific ingredients inherent in their products through packaging design to bolster consumer confidence in them. This packaging adeptly captures this trend by outlining the growth posture and appearance characteristics of Dendrobium. It effectively presents a visual representation of vitality and beauty while also conveying the dedication of the brand to employing natural and organic ingredients.
Inspiration
The Dendrobium is known for upward growth posture and remains coiled when dried for medicinal purposes. Inspired by this, the design team created a centre ring structure that simulates the multiple nodes of the Dendrobium, presenting the dynamics of growth posture with chine lines. The design features a gradient of yellow and green colours from the Dendrobium stem leaves, which provides users with a natural and vital visual experience, showcasing the natural and safe properties of the product.
