SciFest LA is a hypothetical 8-day film festival devoted to showcasing science fiction movies. By curating classic science fiction movies from 1970 to 2017, the audience can enjoy all different types and sub-genres of science fiction movies such as action, animation, and mystery through the festival. All of the posters are designed to interact with augmented reality so that viewers can experience the dimensionalities of the posters and interact with them.

Production Technology
Utilize Adobe Creative Cloud suite software from Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effect, to incorporate with Maxon Cinema 4D. Using Artivive and Spark AR software to create Augmented Reality experience.
Design Challenge
To re-design a pre-existing event and create holistic design experience through branding.
Project Duration
The project started in December 2017 but finished in December 2019 in Pasadena.
Operation Flow
All of the posters are designed to interact with augmented reality so that viewers can experience the dimensionalities of the posters and interact with them. Science fiction festival is not just about watching movies but also experiencing future-casting technologies or concepts. Interfaces of the app and the website exemplify the experiences of entering the events and previewing all the contents that will be hosted for the event through kinetic 3D graphic treatments.
Research
Watching and observing all the classic sci-fi movies so that I could draw the main design elements from the commonalities of sci-fi movies to represent the sci-fi festival. Sci-fi movies are a combination of physics in reality but also the imagination and creativity of creators as well, so these were main insights to create kinetic typography and dimensional graphic elements for this project.
Inspiration
Inspired by the science fiction movie “Interstellar,” the discovering scene of the four dimensions, I developed a dimensional typeface as the main visual language that could be used as a framing device throughout different applications for the whole festival identity system.
Project Overview
SciFest Los Angeles Festival Identity System has been a Iron winner in the Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design award category in the year 2020 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Iron A' Design Award is awarded to good designs that meet the rigorous professional and industrial standards set by the A' Design Awards. This recognition is reserved for works that demonstrate a solid understanding of design principles and show creativity within their execution. Recipients of the Iron A' Design Award are acknowledged for their practical innovations and contributions to their respective fields, providing solutions that improve quality of life and foster positive change. These designs are a testament to the skill and dedication of their creators, showcasing their ability to address real-world challenges through thoughtful design.
