Wine Black Pyramid features a four wine bottle premium package greatly inspired in the ancient Egyptian culture with silhouettes resembling the figures of kings at the metal armor in the packaging resembling an pyramid. Each bottle type symbolizes one of the fourth primary elements: fire, earth, water and air. They are represented with luminescent symbols that shine in the darkness.

Unique Properties

This package design has four bottle of wine that have own name of four natural elements as fire, earth, water, air. Four elements covered the luminescent varnish. Every packaging from rigid cardboard that has the shape of triangle. Four packaging collect to full shape of pyramid and outside has black colour that looks as volcanic rock surface. The bottles from black glass was covered of additional metal material that remind the ancient clothers of Egyptians people, they used metal plates to waist.

Production Technology

For packaging was used the rigid cardboard. The front part covers by gold foil that looks as gold bullion. The bottles created from not transparent black glass and covered by black metal. For lid was used the soft type of stone of light colour. The shape of bottle was manufactured in such way that it is absolutely correctly fit to pyramid packaging. The additional material was used luminescent transparent varnish that covers metal symbols of four elements, it can be seen full only in night time.

Design Challenge

The main challenges was how two types of opposite materials as gold and cold metal will look together. At the first stage was decided to do the metal cover of the bottles absolutely black from chromium but finally was taken decision that the black metal with not so shine surface more suit to this design and doing the bottle visually more rich. For the lid was also created different forms but the lid has the inclined shape and the square slabs look more interesting and allow to see additional details of this.

Project Duration

Started in September 2018 and finished in February 2019

Operation Flow

Just to need to see full magic is open the packaging at the night time to see which of the four elements you will be try. And just enjoy amazing flavour of the wine.

Research

The ancient Pyramids of Egypt was also interesting for million people during centuries. Customer interests to build on new and useful products. The products that have unusual and at the same time well identifiable shapes more approve by people. The general idea was create someting new with foundation on the recognizable elements. Also was good work experience on this design how to interact shape of full pyramid devide it on four different pieces and include correct form of the bottle inside.

Inspiration

The main inspiration of this design was ancient Egypt with incredible pyramids that have magical representation how they was created. The strict shapes of pyramids inspire and admire at the same time. Without past can't be future this line of thoughts also transmit understanding about this design. To create the new one remember about that exist before many millions years ago to repeat same but only with new more modern design look on this. The bottle can remind Egyptian silhouette of ancient kings.

Wine Black Pyramid Limited Edition has been a Iron winner in the Packaging Design award category in the year 2019 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. This recognition is reserved for works that demonstrate a solid understanding of design principles and show creativity within their execution.
