Production Technology
The Wanmu Qianjin set embodies eco-aesthetics with textured paper mimicking forestscapes, gold-flecked patterns symbolizing astragalus resources, and Qianlong-style seal plaques reflecting imperial elegance. Three golden drawers assemble into Saihanba landscapes, containing 30-day supply (10 sachets per drawer) with herbal wisdom engraved. Refillable design embodies sustainability principles.
Design Challenge
The design bridges consumption and ecological action: forest-textured paper with gold-flecked patterns metaphorically links Astragalus resources to Saihanba's restoration. Each purchase funds a sapling, transforming consumers into ecological stakeholders. Medicinal value is visualized through deconstructed Qing pharmacopeia motifs, perpetuating Saihanba Spirit via contemporary design semiotics.
Project Duration
The Wanmu Qianjin project was launched in Shenzhen, China (September 2024) and fully implemented by January 2025.
Operation Flow
The emerald-green exterior features an engraved gold-plated metal plaque, exuding luxurious appeal. Opening the box reveals a gilded inner chamber, symbolizing the discovery of ecological treasure within vast forests, enhancing perceived value and ritualistic experience. Contains 30 Astragalus tea sachets (8g each, 240g total) – one sachet brews a daily pot, precisely designed for 30-day usage. Compact pouch packaging ensures portability.
Research
This packaging emphasizes the connection between consumer behavior and ecological preservation. It inherits the Saihanba Spirit while addressing modern youth's demand for health-conscious lifestyles. By exploring the modern translation of traditional cultural elements – including royal heritage, desert-to-forest transformation, and Astragalus' medicinal value – the design rejuvenates cultural communication for younger generations and advances Saihanba's green sustainability philosophy.
Inspiration
The Wanmu Qianjin packaging translates Saihanba's ecological narrative, documenting three generations' desert to forest transformation that showcases balance between humanity and nature, reflecting the Eastern philosophy of Heaven Human Unity. By merging Qing imperial hunting heritage with modern ecotechnology elements, it advances the Saihanba Spirit through innovative cultural interpretation.
