The design integrates Chinese and Western elements, inspired by ancient Chinese food boxes and the Chinese style prevalent in 18th century Europe, blending Chinese and French attractions and elements. The cardboard box is decorated with Panpan logo ribbon lines, which also resemble ribbons and connect the Chinese and French elements in the illustration. The metal nameplate and limited edition logo highlight quality, with illustrations paired with embossed wheat and bamboo grain patterns.

Unique Properties
This is a limited gift box made by the Panpan brand to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France. It is used as a souvenir for the brand's new product launch held in Paris. Combining famous Chinese and French attractions with the brand's IP image, the gift box contains brand products and selected gifts.

Production Technology
The gift box is made of cardboard. The gold medal on the front and the limited edition identity plate on the back are made of metal. The illustrations on the gift box are made of hot stamping, and the patterns of wheat on the side and bamboo on the inside are made of gold paper embossing.
Design Challenge
As a gift box for China-French friendship, how to balance and choose Chinese and French elements is the first problem. The main consumers of the brand come from the sinking market, how to design a Premium Limited gift box that meets its brand positioning is the second problem. The Chinoiserie style is the answer, which combines Chinese and European elements, and the gorgeous decoration is more suitable for the brand than minimalism.
Project Duration
The project started in May 2024 in Beijing and finished in August 2024 in Beijing.
Operation Flow
The opening lines of the gift box are curved, dividing the illustration into two parts to show more details. The gift box opens with a flip lid and is fixed with magnets.
Research
This limited edition gift box celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France combines the essence of Eastern and Western aesthetics. Inspired by classical Chinese food boxes and the prevalent Chinese style in 18th century Europe, it is made of environmentally friendly cardboard material. The ribbon lines on the box decoration are inspired by the Panpan logo, symbolizing the bond of cultural exchange. The overall design is like a precious gift and a cultural bridge, interpreting the friendship between China and France through design language.
Inspiration
The design of the appearance is inspired by ancient Chinese food boxes, and the gift box style is inspired by the Chinoiserie style that was popular in Europe in the 18th century, incorporating famous Chinese and French attractions and elements. The curved opening line is inspired by the line elements of the Panpan logo, and its shape is also like a ribbon, connecting the Chinese and French elements in the illustration.
Project Overview
Panpan Limited Gift Box has been a Bronze winner in the Packaging Design award category in the year 2024 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Bronze A' Design Award is given to outstanding designs that showcase a high degree of creativity and practicality. It recognizes the dedication and skill of designers who produce work that stands out for its thoughtful development and innovative use of materials and technology. These designs are acknowledged for their professional execution and potential to influence industry standards positively. Winning this award highlights the designer's ability to blend form and function effectively, offering solutions that enhance people's lives and wellbeing.
