World Tour for B’IN LIVE CO., LTD.
Bamboo leaves sway as light and shadow interact, setting a tranquil atmosphere for the performance. Chau's vocals, both gentle and expressive, establish a connection with the audience. As the scene shifts, he adopts a more relaxed presence, playing an acoustic guitar while his voice fills the venue. The careful coordination of lighting and stage design enhances the experience. Despite challenges, the design team remained focused on creating a thoughtful and engaging performance that resonated with the audience.

The concert stage design features dynamic mechanical transformations. The first half, themed Ballad of the Swordsman, presents Wakin Chau as a martial artist with deep insights into life. Draping curtains evoke misty mountains, and translucent ink-wash projections create a striking visual. Chau's powerful yet gentle vocals convey love, hate, and fate. The second half, focused on Youth, introduces modern elements. The curtains retract mechanically, revealing the band, while LED screens and advanced equipment bring the audience into a contemporary atmosphere, amplifying the emotional impact.

In the first half, the curtains are used to conceal the LED screens and hide the band on stage, while projections on the curtains create a Chinese-inspired wuxia atmosphere. Each curtain weighs approximately 100 kilograms, with a total of six pieces. The top of the curtains reaches a height of 1,336 cm, requiring powerful mechanical devices to rapidly pull them up. The fire-resistant gray fabric is ideal for projection, and its density and texture were adjusted through numerous experiments to ensure clarity in the projections and achieve the desired light and shadow effects on stage.
The challenge of integrating stage design and technology lies in several areas. The extensive use of soft materials for projections in the first half requires precise coordination between lighting and projections to avoid interference from lighting behind the curtains. The heavy curtains are complex to operate and need powerful mechanical systems for smooth ascent and descent. Additionally, adjusting stage lighting is challenging, as the lighting parameters differ for each half of the performance, requiring frequent fine-tuning to ensure the singer's appearance remains unaffected under changing light sources.
The project finished in 2024 in Taiwan.
Wakin Chaus concert received overwhelming excitement, with most shows selling out, sparking discussions of additional performances. The impressive ticket sales reflect Chau's broad appeal across age groups. The concert's theme, Young Swordsman, metaphorically compares his microphone to a sword and his songs to martial arts moves. Classic hits like The Flowery Heart were crowd favorites, resonating deeply with the audience. Post-concert reactions praised not only the stage design and visuals but also the concert atmosphere and Chau's charming sense of humor.
Wakin Chau's 2024 World Tour is a musical journey blending soul and rebirth, with themes of 'The Wandering Swordsman' and 'The Youth.' The first half immerses fans in a wuxia world through large-scale projections and stage effects, while the second half energizes with modern LED visuals. Every detail, from stage design to lighting, is meticulously crafted. The standout curtain technology, with 100-kilogram fireproof fabric, transforms the stage from classical to modern. The concert showcases Chau's duality-strong yet tender, emotional yet principled.
Wakin Chau is a renowned figure in the Mandarin music scene, earning titles like 'The Top Singer' and 'Slayer.' His iconic songs, including 'A Hard Scripture to Read' and 'A Life of Fighting is but a Dream,' are closely linked to Jin Yong's wuxia works. The concert features a dual-stage format, symbolizing both reflection and rebirth. The design team seamlessly incorporates mechanical transformations, mountain-shaped curtains, and LED projections, blending Wakin Chau's music with wuxia's essence, marking a milestone in his career.
