Production Technology

Considering the traffic of the visitors at the theme park, for key points, we pondered over ways to create interest through effects and designs. We concentrated on various forms, coloring, and equipment that could attract the attention of the visitors. Uninteresting spaces were recreated into fun spaces, and at night, LED lights were used to provide some sentimental spatial effects.

Design Challenge

Due to the nature of theme parks having to be continuously operational, the installation of each space must be completed within one night. Therefore, all structural materials were pre-tested and designed at the production site so that installation at the site can be performed conveniently. Especially, for the Magic Island Main Bridge structure, since the structure must stand independently with the curvature and incline above the existing bridge, a more discreet design was required.

Project Duration

This project commenced started at Lotte World in Seoul, Korea on March 7, 2020 and was completed on June 7, 2020.

Operation Flow

The space is composed of a school bus, school yard, and the road leading to the school with Lotty and Lorry and the animal characters blending with each other. (*Lotty / Lorry : Lotte World's representative character) At various places within the theme park, experimental spaces and photo zones are provided so that visitors can celebrate the occasion. The visitors of the theme park are provided with fresh and unique pleasures and experiences.

Research

We have collected as much data as possible on the age groups and tendencies of theme park customers. Escaping from everyday life and by keeping in mind the spaces that are fun and of unique colorings of experiences, the theme park was designed focusing on seasonal features and by emphasizing topics like school.

Inspiration

The theme of the Lotte World 2020 Spring Festival is school. It is a fusion of opening and starting of school and spring which indicates the start of seasons. New images have been expressed with the use of cherry blossoms, which represent spring, and elements that are reminiscent of school. Taking into account the features of the theme park space, it is a formation of spatial items that can be shared by everyone regardless of age.
