Freshman Admission Notice Gift Box for xiexie design
The gift box of admission letter for 2018 new students of Dongguan University of Technology combines the Chinese character "Guan" with the elements of the city flower of Dongguan, michelia alba, to make the font design and the whole set of vision. In addition, the real michelia alba has been put into small bottles so that freshmen from all over the China can feel the blooming scent of Dongguan, which is full of humanistic atmosphere and the great expectation to the new city and the new study career.Dongguan is a city in China.

Unique Properties
The original intention is to design a set of vital and considerate gift box of admission letter with a sense of belonging for Dongguan University of Technology, which will be dispatched to freshmen all over the country and also carry the expectation to bring the new Dongguan culture to people. Therefore, michelia alba, the city flower of Dongguan, has been selected as the symbol of Dongguan culture for project design.

Production Technology
This gift box adopts a pull out box so that one can see the gift box in a more comprehensive way. In addition, the real michelia alba has also been put into a small bottle so that freshmen from all over China can feel the blooming scent of Dongguan. A lot of thoughts have been put into assembling and producing materials.
Design Challenge
We have creatively added two local atlases into the gift box. The first one is Culture of Dongguan, which integrates the graphics, the texts and the map positioning of Dongguan Art Museum, Dongguan Museum and other cultural aggregation sites into one book.
Project Duration
Started in July 2018, completed in September, completed in Dongguan, China
Operation Flow
Students can pull and open the gift box by holding the woven tassel on one side of the box, and then see the rich and uniform design of canvas bag, notebook, pen bag, atlas, etc. Another point with the strongest humanistic ideas are two “drifting bottles”. In addition to the bottle with dried michelia alba, 5000 pieces of message notes handwritten by elder brothers and sisters, teachers and leaders of Dongguan University of Technology have also been put into the bottle randomly.
Research
Humanistic feelings have always been a missing part in gift boxes on the market but this gift box design for freshmen has combined the local culture and the Dongguan’s feelings for those freshmen. We have prepared brochures with stories on Dongguan and plants with scents of Dongguan so as to convey the real scents of Dongguan via real objects, and to bridge the feelings between freshmen and the university in Dongguan.
Inspiration
Centering on the design concept of I will come to Dongguan for my prospect, we have combined the Chinese character Guan with the elements of the city flower of Dongguan, the michelia alba, to make the font design and a complete set of visual departure gift box. It carries a hopeful future and the expectation toward the new city and the new study career.Dongguan is a city in China.
